Kathleen S. (MacDonald) Doncaster
Lieu de naissance : Salmon River
Lieu de décès : Plymouth MA
Date de décès : 22 novembre 2015
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Kathleen S. (MacDonald) Doncaster of Plymouth, Mass., on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015. Mom passed away peacefully at the age of 97.
Born in Salmon River, she was the daughter of the late Colin F. and Annie (Gillis) MacDonald. She married Norman Doncaster in 1941 and had six children. They moved to Boston in 1962, but their hearts remained in Cape Breton.
Kathleen was a graduate of Holy Angels Convent, Sydney, and taught school in Lewis Bay West prior to her marriage. Family and faith were of the utmost importance to her.
Kathleen was a hard worker and talented woman; she was renowned within the family for her homemade bread, biscuits and her phenomenal memory for dates. She knew anniversaries and birth dates, not only of her family, but her very large extended family. Mom was an intelligent, strong woman. She took pride in receiving a perfect score on an exam given by AT&T when she applied for work — they told her no one had ever received a perfect score.
Kathleen is survived by daughters, Eileen (Tony), Joyce (Faye), Cathy and son, Gerald; loving grandchildren, Sherri, Lorri and Mark; sister, Josephine; and sister-in-law, Alice.
She was predeceased by husband, Norman; sons, Joseph and Allen and siblings, Joseph, Duncan, Alan, Stella, Isabel, Nan, Margaret and Mary.
A funeral mass will take place in Plymouth, Mass., in January 2016.
