formerly of Barters Hill St. John's, NL passed away on Dec. 09th 2015 at Rouge Valley Centenary Hospital in Toronto, Ont. Shirley died after a long battle with lung cancer in the loving arms of her daughter., Erin. Shirley was the first to hold her second child, Erin, at her birth and Erin held her mom in her arms as she passed from this life. Our first child Randall was born during a violent storm on Feb 16th 1959. Randy was born by flashlight, the hydro had gone out during the storm. She had to wait several days before falling in love with her new blue eyed darling. Soon after she then cracked open a window and had a cigarette. So very, very much Shirley. She had recently turned 79. So even though cancer finally got her, she died as she lived, in her own time and for the most part on her own terms. She is survived by her husband, Patrick, son Randall and daughter Erin (Chris), grand children Jesse (Christal), Ryan (Harmony), Patrick, Hannah, Matthew and Aedan and great grand daughter Addison also her sisters Irene, Margaret, brothers Douglas O'Neill (Sandra), Patrick and Wayne O'Neill. She is resting at The Aftercare Cremation and Burial Services 1097 O'Connor Dr. East York viewing and service Saturday, December 19th 1Pm-3PM. Shirley is remembered by so many 1st, 2nd and 3rd cousins, nieces and nephews that it would be too many to mention. Our darling Shirley's life was spent caring for others, her generosity and compassion beyond measure. Her wish would be, that in her memory, we continued in that spirit of giving by looking for opportunities to perform a random act of kindness whenever and wherever possible.
