Norma Irene Green
GREEN, Norma Irene – 91, Harmony Ridge, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday evening, December 15, 2015, at The Mira Long Term Care Facility, Truro. Born in Kemptown, she was a daughter of the late William and Susan (McCabe) Hingley. Norma was a member of McCulloch United Church, Harmony. From an early age, she knew the value of hard work as she went with her father to the woods camps and cooked for him and the crew and also helped raise her siblings at home. Later on, she was employed at Lewis Hat and Cap Factory, Dominion stores, various hotels, Stanfield’s and Mack’s Home Bakery, among others as well. Norma is survived by her daughters, Susan (Ron) Richard, North River; Bonnie (Wendell) Ross, Camden; sons, Dwayne (Doreen), Harmony Ridge; Perry (Michelle), Bible Hill; grandchildren, Charlene (David), Marcey (Chris), Vickie (Doug), Daniel (Ina), Dennise (Mike), Cassandra (Matt), Ethan; great grandchildren, Bentley, Kathryn, Owen; sister, Maxine (Charlie) Shearer, Hilden; brothers, Ernest (Sylvia) Hingley, Salmon River; Earl (Ethel) Hingley, Truro; Preston (June) Hingley, Chester; Flemming (Grace) Hingley, Salmon River; Robert (Pat) Hingley, Salmon River; Laurie (Carol) Hingley, Wellington; sister-in-law, Wilma Hingley, Salmon River; brother-in-law, Ron Read, Ottawa; several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Paul Bentley Green; sisters, Marjorie, Aileen (Gerald), Bertha (Arnold), Muriel (Fred), Annie (Everett); brothers, Ronnie, Russell (Gwen), Parker (Phyllis). Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where the funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, December 18, 2015, Reverend Iain Macdonald officiating. Reception will follow. Interment in Harmony Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to McCulloch United Church or Wood Island Church Fund are welcomed.
