With heavy hearts we announce that our gentle Jim left us on December 16, 2015 surrounded by his loving family at his home. Predeceased by his parents Frank and Anne, his sister Helen Woerz and his father-in-law George Tobin. Though forever grateful for the tremendous blessing of having him in our lives, yet heartbroken from his loss are his wife Sandra, his best friends and treasured sons, Chris and Mike and his much loved daughters, Kathy (John Murray) and Jenny (Robin James), his precious grandson Calum and his dear mother-in-law Eileen Tobin. Jim also leaves with saddened hearts, his sisters: Rita (late Frank Mills), Maureen (John Squires), and Delores Crotty and their families. The special bond with the Tobin family leaves a void with his sisters and brothers in-law: Doreen (Frank Dinn), Glenn (Linda), Brenda (Dale Temple), Harold (Kathy), Norman (Susan), Pam (Gord Kelland), and Anne Marie (Joe Healey) and their families. Jim also leaves a wide circle of friends, his colleagues at Investor's Group and his clients whom he missed dearly since retirement.
He will be remembered as a wonderful, caring, and sensitive person. He was a true gentleman. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Saturday, December 19 from noon to 9 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Mary Queen of Peace Church on Monday, December 21 at 10:30 a.m. Jim always observed nature as a "wonderful thing". As a tribute to his love of the great outdoors and his longtime support of the Nature Conservancy of Canada, donations in his memory may be made to the Nature Conservancy of Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Division.
