It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Betty Paul, on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2015, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Whycocomagh, she was the daughter of the late John G. And Bridget (Bernard) Sylliboy.
Betty was a past president for the Eskasoni Women's Auxiliary, she also co-ordinated annual pilgrimage to Ste. Anne De'Beaupre, Quebec, she worked for numerous years with NADACA as a cook/housekeeper. She was a survivor of the residential schools. She loved her bingo nights and devoted to Ste. Anne (Patron Saint). She was also given the honour of ABMHS Role Model of the year 2010-2011. She was chosen by the students at the high school.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Georgina (Lorna) Paul, Belinda (Ralph Stevens), Isabel (Virick Francis); her sons, Lindsay (Vivian), Lawrence Jr. (Rosie), Stanley (Natalie), Aubrey (Molly), Ruben (Ann), Irving (Charla), Nathan (Loretta), Kenneth, all from Eskasoni. She is survived by her sisters: Georgina (Francis) Burgess, Cape Cod, USA, and Amelia (Archie Jesty). Surviving by 75 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, also survived by godchildren, Mike Herney, Geraldine (Mulch) Paul, Sharon E. Paul, Lynda C. Gould, Jasmine B. Francis, Harriet Marshall and Donald Doucette. She is also survived by her 'Muin Clan'.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Lawrence J. Paul, son Darrell R. Paul, she was also predeceased by her grandchildren, Jasmine F. Paul, Christopher J. Stevens and Jaxon Gould-Paul, brothers, John W. Sylliboy and Max Sylliboy Sr.
Visitation for Betty will be held in the Gabriel Centre, Eskasoni, on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, starting at 7 p.m., and continuing into Sunday. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, Dec. 21, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Family Parish, Eskasoni, with Fr. Martin MacDougall officiating.
