E. Margaret Wheaton

WHEATON, E. MARGARET
1924 - 2015
Moncton - Editha Margaret Wheaton, widow of the late Parker A. Wheaton, of Gorge Road, Moncton, and formerly of Newcastle, passed away at her residence on Friday morning, December 18, 2015, at the age of 91. Born in Stratton, St. Margarets Swindon Wilts, England. She was the daughter of the late Ernest James and Ivy E.E. (Harris) Dunn.
She was a homemaker; a member of St. James and St. Johns United Church; a member of the U.C.W.; a former volunteer at the Miramichi Hospital.
She is survived by daughters, Pat Kidd, (Oscar) and Lynda Leclerc (Gilles). Six grandchildren, David, Marc, Rachelle, Jeff, Jason, Jennifer; six great grandchildren, Casandra, Parker, Isaac, Shivanya, Nathanial, Juliet. One sister, Kathleen Webb, of England, as well as one very special friend and companion, Monica MacDonald.
She was predeceased by her husband, Parker, in 2004; one son, James; two sisters, Gladys Dunn and Josephine Hunt; one brother, Albert Dunn.
Margaret and Pat arrived at Pier 21, Halifax, off the Queen Mary, with many other war brides after World War II ended. Her blonde haired, blue eyed soldier husband was there to meet them. She faced the challenge of her life, city girl, country boy. She was an inspiration. Through her, we, her children and grandchildren have learned many things; patience, perseverance, tolerance, grace, respect, laughter, the joy of nature, flowers, birds, animals and even insects. She was the kindest person we know. With her British background she tried to teach us manners, which could be a challenge with Parker around. She always said she was the tomboy and Kath the lady. You could see that in the devilish sparkle in her eye, her sense of humor and her laugh. Her friends, other family members and her “second family”, the UCW girls, shared lots of good times together. During her last years living at Pro Tem, it was evident the staff, residents and their families thought a lot of her. She showed her kindness and humor there too.
Our family would like to thank Paulette and Chris Wallace for having a facility like Pro Tem where you know your loved one is safe and has exceptional care. To the staff, you are such wonderful caring people. We don’t know what we would do without you. Thank you.
By request there will be no visitation at the funeral home. A public graveside service will be held from Moorefield Cemetery, Miramichi, later in the spring.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to any charity of the donors’ choice would be appreciated by the family.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, telephone 773-3492 or messages of condolence may be sent online to www.adamsfh.ca
