With profound sadness and the best memories, the family and friends of David T. 'Birdie' regret to announce his quiet passing at home in Ben Eoin, on Monday, Dec. 21, 2015.
He will always be remembered as a kind and generous man with a boisterous laugh, a witty remark or a new take on an old joke.
A proud shipyarder, Birdie is survived by his partner, Wendy Cohen Ross; her children, and grandchildren; his son, Kristopher (Lynn) and granddaughter, Adeline; his brothers, Pierce (Helen), Edmonton, Robert, Sudbury; sister, Barbara (Joe) Bryden; sister-in-law, Marie Savoie. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Birdie was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Edna (Myers) Peters, his brother Frank (Tooka) and his sister-in-law Sherry (MacDonald) Peters.
Loved by all who knew him, Birdie was befriended by the patrons and staff at Ski Ben Eoin and the golfers and staff at The Lakes Golf Club.
When he wasn’t working or playing golf, Birdie could be found relaxing on the deck or enjoying the latest chocolate confection to cross his path. His favourite part of any holiday was the food and friends and we will all have him in our thoughts this Christmas season.
Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016 from 1-3 p.m. at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation.
