Otto Strong, age 67 passed away on Saturday, Dec. 26, 2015 at home.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Gordon and Rita (Boone) Strong.
Otto was raised by his grandparents, Charlie and Hazel Strong.
Otto was an oil burner technician and operated his own business since 1977. He was a hard working, compassionate man who loved hunting, fishing and going out in his boat. In his earlier years, he was an avid dart player.
Otto is survived by his wife, Nancy (Green) Strong; three sons, Michael (Wanda), Kyle (Nicole), Aiden Buckland; three stepbrothers, Joey (Carrie), Vince (Anna), Steve (Marina) Simonetta; five grandchildren, Courtney, Nicole, Taylor, Regan, Connor and one great-granddaughter, Camrynn. He will be sadly missed by his hunting and fishing buddy, Jack Simms.
Besides his parents, Otto was predeceased by his son, Gordon, daughter, April and his sister, Charmaine.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m., all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. Salvation Army Lieutenants, Dennis and Mary Maybury officiating. Burial in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Otto’s memory may be made to palliative care, cancer society or the VON.
