1935 - 2015
Russell Charles Thompson, husband of Ruby Thompson, of Murphy Street, Miramichi, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital with his family by his side, on Monday, December 28, 2015, at the age of 80. Born in Napan, on September 1, 1935, he was the son of the late George and Alice (Dickson) Thompson. He was a cost estimator by profession and a member of the United Church of Canada.
He is survived by his wife, the former Ruby Taylor; one daughter, Wanda Taylor (Glenn), of Napan; one son, Richard Thompson, of Fredericton; three sisters, Anna Dickson (Roland), of Napan, Margaret Ashford, of Miramichi and Macrena Jardine (Ralph), of Napan; two brothers, Wayne Thompson (Joyce), of Napan and Paul Thompson, of Black River Bridge; two grandchildren, Christopher (Veronique), of Fredericton and Rachel Doak (Corey), of Miramichi; three great grandchildren, Ian, William and Tristan.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Neil, Robert and Sonny Thompson.
He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed woodworking, and was a dedicated family man.
Visitation will be at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., on Wednesday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held from Adams Funeral Home chapel on Thursday, December 31, 2015, at 2 pm, conducted by Rev. Gerald Blacquier. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, later in the spring.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to Bethel United Church, the Canadian Cancer Society or any charity of the donors’ choice would be appreciated by the family.
