It is with sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother, Isabel Katherine MacLean, age 91, at Alderwood Guest Home, Baddeck, where she resided for the past five years.
Born at Point Clear, Boularderie, on Nov. 26, 1924, she was the daughter of the late John and MaryBelle Morrison.
As a young woman, she worked in Boston and then returned to Boularderie in 1950 to marry her husband Seward where they lovingly raised a family of three in Ross Ferry. Mom was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church, Ross Ferry, served on the board of managers, was a devoted choir member and a life member of Knox AMS.
Kaye is survived by daughter, Debbie, Ross Ferry; sons, John (Rhoda), Ross Ferry and Kenny (Debbie), Southside Boularderie; grandchildren, Edward (Kim) MacLean, great-granddaughters Quinn and Kelty, Wembley, Alta.; Ann (Doug) Cantwell, great-granddaughter Charlotte, Ross Ferry; Shawn (Brandi Anderson), great-granddaughter Natayia (mother, Robyn Winchell), Grand Prairie, Alta.; Beverly (Andrew Deveaux) MacLean, Musquodoboit Harbour, N.S., Jamie (Heather Penny) MacLean, Grand Prairie, Alta..; brother Donald Morrison, Sydney; sisters in-law Peggy Morrison, Tewkesbury, Mass. and Sally Morrison, Sydney River; and many special nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Mom was predeceased by our Dad, Seward, mother in-law Jessie MacDonald, brothers, Christopher, Billy (Ann) and Monty, sisters, Florence (Duncan) MacQueen, Mallie (Robert) Taylor; and Peggy, sister in-law Jessie Morrison.
The family would like to thank the staff at Alderwood Guest Home for the wonderful care Mom received and their kindness and compassion shown to the family during this difficult time. Words can’t express our gratitude. Thank you to Drs. Chow, Genge and Jabeen and N.P. J. Hendrikson for their care over the years.
Visitation will be held at J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines on Monday, Jan. 4 from 3-8 p.m. A service celebrating Mom’s life will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2 p.m. at Knox Presbyterian Church, Ross Ferry, with Rev. Peter MacDonald officiating. Burial will be at at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the general funds of Knox Presbyterian Church, Ross Ferry or to the charity of one’s choice.
