Age 88, Truro NS, passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, January 3, 2016. Isaac was born in Bay Roberts, Newfoundland on December 13, 1927. He had a long distinguished teaching career in Newfoundland. He spent many of those years as a teacher in Botwood, NL where he was well respected by both peers and students. Isaac was a prolific reader of literature and was a published poet. He spent many summers trout fishing on the Hearts Content Barrens. Up until the time of his death, Isaac enjoyed lively discussions debating current, social and political events or those of historical significance. His happiest times were spent in the company of his friends and family. "Poppy?"especially enjoyed talking with his children and grandchildren, of whom he was very proud. Isaac is survived by his loving wife and companion Louise (nee Howell); daughters Allison Buntain (Jim), Glenys Macdonald (Colin), and Rhonda Graham (Colin); step-children David Martin (Vickie), Dale Thomas (John), William Martin (Leslie); grandchildren Jake Buntain (Kelsey), Jane Buntain (Ryan), Andrew Macdonald (Amy), Ian Macdonald (Elizabeth), Lindsay Macdonald (Dexter), Mark, Ryan, and Lauren Graham; step-grandchildren, Richard Thomas, Tyler and Jamie Lee Martin; brothers Earl (Lorraine), Bert (Clarice), Bruce (Phyllis), David; sister Velma. Isaac is predeceased by his parents Walter and Fannie Caravan; first wife Nealie; brothers Art, Roy, Leslie, and sister Lois. Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 8, at Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, NS.
