TAYES, THERESA
It is with heavy hearts the family of Theresa Elizabeth (Hourihan) Tayes announce her passing on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Passekeag, NB on August 15, 1935 she was the daughter of the late Gus and Marie (Kennedy) Hourihan.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Austin Willis Tayes; brothers William Hourihan and John Hourihan (Jean); sister Cecilia Sands; brothers-in-law Frank Walton and Joseph Sands; granddaughter Kanika Tayes.
She is survived by her sons Danny (Sharon), Earl (Susan), Carl (Tina) and Eric Tayes; only daughter Eileen Tayes; brothers Joseph Hourihan (Barb) and Frankie Hourihan (Eleanor); sisters Mary Walton and Gertrude Sands; brother-in-law Al Cox; sister-in-law Catherine Hourihan; grandchildren Takeya, Brenton, Bryce, Amanda, Christopher and Melissa; great-grandchildren Kyron and Wyatt and several extended family and friends.
Theresa was an avid Bingo player, she enjoyed quilting and knitting, cooking and especially enjoyed cooking for her family. She knitted hats, mitts and booties for the Neonatal Unit for many years.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitations on Friday, January 8 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 2 p.m. Interment will take place in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Golden Grove in the spring.
