William Laurence Makenney

MAKENNEY, WILLIAM LAURENCE "LAURIE"
It is with great sadness that the family of Laurie Makenney of Grand Bay-Westfield, loving husband of Judy (Davis) Makenney, announces his unexpected passing, which occurred on January 6th, 2016, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Laurie was born in Saint John on August 4, 1958; a son of the late Roy and Shirley (Godsoe) Makenney.
He worked for Avondale Construction as a Civil Engineer, and was heavily involved in sports; he played all of his life, and also coached hockey and lacrosse. His love of sports was instilled in his children; Laurie coached both of his boys as well, and was involved in the Fundy Lacrosse Association. Laurie was also an avid outdoorsman; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, boating, and camping.
In addition to his wife Judy, Laurie is survived by his two boys, who he lived for: Tyler and Cruise, siblings Linda Belyea of Saint John, Martha Hughes of Moncton, Margo (Bruce) Rodgerson of Saint John, Sarah (Matthew) Sullivan and their children Reid and Mason, Andrew Hughes of Dartmouth, and Jennifer (David) Phillips of Moncton, and their daughter Lily, as well as many other nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424). Although there will be no visitation, family and friends are invited to attend the funeral service, which will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, January 11th, 2016, at 10:00 am.
For those who wish, remembrances to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
