
Ronald (Ron) Reimer
Reimer, Ronald (Ron) Valentine (February 14,1937 - December 19, 2015), age 78 of the Leinan District, passed away suddenly at his home on December 19, 2015. A memorial service with Major Don Grad officiating will be held on April 16, 2016 at the Swift Current Fairgrounds in the Palliser Pavillion at 2:00 pm. Ron is survived by six brothers, Charles Victor, Harold, Allan (Alice Ziegler), Murray (Jeanette Comeau), and Garth (Avril McDonough), all of Swift Current, Saskatchewan, and Bruce (Chalong Bunmalee) of Amnat Charoen, Thailand; seven sisters, Eleanor (Garfield) Oakman of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Louise (Delnor) Johnsgaard of Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Delma (Joe) Yarrow of Brooks, Alberta, Norma (Adam) Schell, Audrey Laughlin and Anne Reimer, all of Medicine Hat, Alberta, Donna (Murray) Hjermenrude of Ste. Anne, Manitoba; and sister-in-law Sandra Hinks of Swift Current, Saskatchewan. He also leaves to mourn 28 nieces and nephews, numerous grandnieces, great-grandnieces, grandnephews and great-grandnephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Dave (December 1998) and Hilda (November 1981); one brother, Melvin (November 1970); and sisters-in-law, Henriette (April 2007) and Shirley Anderson (May 2015). Ron attended school in the Leinan School District #314. After leaving school he assisted on the family farm until being employed by the Saskatchewan Department of Conservation and Development Branch, holding various positions between 1959 and 1965. He then returned to the farm and became a full time farmer/rancher. He spent many years breeding Polled Herefords. He received numerous awards and ribbons for showing his beloved animals. He later had a herd of crossbreeds. He retired from active farming in 2013. Ron was enamoured with Blue Heeler dogs and usually had one to keep him company. He spent hours watching news, weather and sports. He had a great love for baseball, especially the Toronto Blue Jays. Ron was our "go to" weather guy. It was one of his favourite conversations.
