MACDONALD, MARY
With heavy hearts and after a life well lived, the family of Mary MacDonald announces her passing, which occurred on January 9th, 2016, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Mary was born in Judique, Cape Breton on September 25, 1922; a daughter of the late Angus and Mary (MacDonnell) Cameron of Cape Breton, and the wife of the late Alexander MacDonald.
During her working years, Mary was a caregiver at the Loch Lomond Villa, Rocmaura Nursing Home, and also through private home care. A truly selfless woman, she was a second Mom to all the neighbourhood children. Mary was a 60 plus year member of the CWL, enjoyed bingo, and playing cribbage.
Left to mourn are her children Lewis MacDonald (Lynn Berry) of Quispamsis, daughter Sheila MacDonald of Troy, Cape Breton, a grandson, Angus, and cousin, Lawrence MacDonald.
In addition to her husband Alexander, Mary was predeceased by her siblings, and her son, Gerard.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) where the family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held in Cape Breton, through Green’s Funeral Home, 507 Bernard St, Port Hawkesbury (902-625-2929).
