It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother Willie Johnston at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Jan. 9, 2016 at the age of 82.
Born Jan. 7, 1934, Willie worked at Marine Atlantic retiring after 43 years.
Willie was the son of the late James and Carrie (Newman) Johnston.
He was predeceased by brothers Percey and Ronald; sisters Marie, twin sister Queenie and Genevieve.
Left to mourn his loss is his wife of 61 years Yvonne (Stubbert) Johnston; sons, Billy (Heather), Wayne (April), Steven (Laurie); daughters, Linda (Sandy Langer), Cathy (Berkeley Keeping), Patsy (Luke Reashore); 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, whom he dearly loved; his special nephew Michael Clarke and former daughter-in-law Maxine Johnston (Collier). He is also survived by his brothers, Walter (June), Nelson ( Celesta) and sister Frances.
There will be no visitation by request. A private service for family and extended families will be held today (Monday) at 2 p.m. at Fillmore and Whitman Funeral Home, 10 Clyde Ave., Sydney Mines with Rev. Ritchie Robinson officiating.
