Catherine Dunn (Hobson)
Born January 18 1925, Catherine passed away peacefully, December 11, 2015, after a brief stay at Extendicare in Moose Jaw. Predeceased by mother Lily, father George, step-mother May, husband Bill, brother Ernie, and grandson Christian Dunn. Survived by children, Val Wiks (Marv), Esther Dunn (Gary), Ian Dunn (Carol), and Andrew Dunn; grandchildren, Pam Johnstone (Corey), Krista Hauser (Jason), Tim Usher, Cory Wiks, Angie Hogg (Andrew), Chris Dunn, James Dunn, Michael Dunn, Andrew Dunn, Miranda Dunn; 9 great-grandchildren and numerous honorary grandchildren. Catherine was a lifetime member of The Salvation Army, active in Moose Jaw since 1948. She taught Sunday School, lead the Home League (woman’s group), was active with the Community Care Ministries and Keenagers (senior’s group), and she managed the first Thrift Store in Moose Jaw. She was the “Camp Grandma” at The Salvation Army Beaver Creek Camp, and Kedleston Gospel Camp with the Apostolic Church. She worked for what became Thunder Creek Home Care from 1971 to 1990 and during her time there she helped establish the union. Catherine was a long term resident of Victoria Towers where for many years she was actively involved with the Tenant’s Association. Again special thanks to the nurses and staff at Pioneers Lodge (Memory Lane), Chateau St. Michaels, and Extendicare. A Funeral Service will take place at The Salvation Army Citadel, Saturday January 16, 2016 at 1:00 pm. Majors Mervyn and Rosena Halvorsen will officiate. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Moose Jaw Salvation Army Citadel # 2 Wintergreen Dr., Moose Jaw, S6J 1M9. In living memory of Catherine, a memorial planting will be made by W.J.
