PURDY, ROBERT F. “BOB”
It is with great sadness the family announces the unexpected passing of Robert Francis “Bob” Purdy of Saint John, at the Saint John Regional Hospital on January 15, 2016.
Born in Saint John, March 1st, 1946, he was the son of the late Betty “Bessie” (Banks) and Francis Purdy. Bob was a Firefighter and worked for the city of Saint John for over 35 years. He retired as Captain from the department in February of 2002. He was active in Union Local 771 Firefighters and President of Saint John Youth Minor Hockey Association for 19 years. Bob enjoyed camping at Crystal Beach and Town and Country Campground where he shared many good times with family and friends. He leaves behind his devoted wife Kelly (Keating) Purdy of Saint John; children Lisa Wilson (Allan) of Saint John, Chrissy Swan (Jake) of Quispamsis; Rob Purdy (Jena Doyle) of Edmonton, AB; Jeffrey Smith, Joey Smith (Ashley Dobson) and Josh Smith all of Saint John; precious grandchildren Adyn Purdy, Ethan Wilson and Jack Swan; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; several nieces, nephews, many friends, canine companion Kipper and feline friend Molly. Besides his parents, Bob was predeceased by his brother Ronald James Purdy.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation on Sunday, January 17th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday, January 18th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from the Cathedral, 91 Waterloo Street on Tuesday, January 19th at 12:10 p.m. Private family interment at a later date.
