It is with broken hearts that we the family sadly announce the passing of a very special brother Clarence Stephen 'Carnie' Walsh Jr., on his 58th birthday Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016, at the Northside General Hospital.
Carnie was born in North Sydney, Jan. 17, 1958, he was a son of the late Clarence and Justine (Shay) Walsh. He had many hobbies, he loved going to wrestling, playing his guitar and also his mouth organ for hours. He especially loved horses and spending time at the race track and when the Cape Breton Exhibition was being held that’s where you would find Carnie. Carnie had lots of friends and loved every one of them. In his earlier years he attended the special needs class at Central School in North Sydney and later the Adult Training Center. He participated in the Special Olympics held in Antigonish. Carnie was a member of St. Joseph Church, North Sydney.
Carnie is survived by his five sisters, Barbara Walsh, Joan Cort, Selina Harris, Mary MacIntyre and Helen McGean, two brothers Danny (Ruth) Walsh, Richard (Ann) Walsh, also one terrific brother-in-law John Lettice, who took excellent care of Carnie for several years, all of North Sydney. Carnie was an uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Carnie was predeceased by his sister, Elma Lettice and two brothers-in-law, Daniel MacIntyre and Fred Harris.
Visitation for Carnie will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Church with Rev. Patrick O’Neill officiating. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.
