KAYE, GLENNA
Glenna T. Kaye passed away at the age of 92, Wednesday, January 27, 2016 following a brief illness.
Born in Wapske, New Brunswick, Canada she became a US citizen in 1960 and resided in Jacksonville, Florida for 63 years. While raising her family she worked for the Duval County School System at Jeff Davis Junior High School. She joined her husband when they opened Duval Equipment, Inc.in October, 1973. They enjoyed travel and traveled the world extensively with family and friends. Glenna and close friends formed “The Birthday Girls” Social Group in 1954 which is still active today. Through her work with the Home Demonstration Organization she was named Mrs. Homemaker of Duval County in 1961. She enjoyed baking and was well known for her Blueberry Cobbler made from home grown blueberries. During her retirement she was a busy volunteer and active on the Boards of Christian Woman’s Club of Orange Park, The Shepard’s Center -Orange Park, Senior’s on a Mission and Hospice of N E Florida and received an Award as Volunteer of the Year from The Shepard’s Center.
Later in life Glenna enjoyed a busy social life as a resident of Allegro Senior Living Community and was very thankful for the friendships of the warm and caring staff and residents.
Glenna will be missed by her children, Faith K. Mellar, Wendy C. Hickman (Chuck), Lawrence B. Kaye (Kim), Melanie deMontmorency (Rod), 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren along with many Canadian relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Thursday evening February 4, 2016 at Jacksonville Memory Gardens, 111 Blanding Boulevard, Orange Park, Florida. Services will be held Friday, February 5, 2016 at 11:00 AM at The Church at Argyle, 6823 Argyle Forest Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida 32244. Interment will immediately follow the service at Jacksonville Memory Gardens.
