Louise Mackie (MacLeod) Brown

Lieu de naissance : Stellarton, Nouvelle Ecosse, Canada

Lieu de décès : Sydney, Canada
Date de décès : 7 février 2016

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Louise Mackie (MacLeod) Brown of Glace Bay on Feb. 7, 2016, at the An Cala unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Louise was born in Stellarton, N.S., and moved to Glace Bay when her father came to work in the mines. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (McKay) Brown. Mom graduated from St. Joseph's School of Nursing and spent her career at St. Joseph's and New Waterford Consolidated hospitals in the OR and Pharmacy. Mom was an avid reader, lover of trivia and Jeopardy and affectionately known as "crossword snob" by her family, as she only did the New York Times weekend puzzles.
Louise is survived by her loving daughter, Sherry McIlroy, and her granddaughter, Sidney McIlroy, Greenwood, who was her pride and joy. Loving sister, Diane McDonald (David), Fall River, N.S.; brothers, Edward Brown (Rita), Oromocto N.B., Jack Brown (Pamela) Kitchener, Ont.; and Owen Brown (Nancy), Dartmouth, N.S. Also survived by stepson, Charles Mackie (Barb), Charlottetown, and grandchildren, Adam Mackie (Emily), Boston, and Michelle McIntyre (Colin), Summerside, P.E.I.; great-grandchildren, Finn Mackie and baby McIntyre due in July; sister-in-law, Linda Brunette (Vince), Lois Mills (Alec) and brother-in-law, Jimmy Mackie (Mary); special godchild, Amanda Bailey, St. John's, Nfld. Mom leaves behind many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly and will be missed by all.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Charles Mackie.
There will no visitation. Mom has donated her body to science at Dalhousie University. A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 12, 2016, at Holy Cross Church, Glace Bay with her nephew, Deacon Lorne McNeil officiating.
Donations may be made to a scholarship fund in mom's name for Precision Dance Company, 165 Bridge St., Kingston, N.S., B0P 1R0.
As she always said, every little child should be able to wear a pair of ballet slippers if they wanted; or to a charity of your choice.
Condolences may be expressed at www.currysfuneralhome.com.
