WILSON, MATTHEW "MARTY" EDWARD
It is with sadness that the family of Marty Wilson announces his death at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Saturday, February 13th, 2016, at the age of 73. Born on September 1st, 1942, he was the husband of Frances (Cameron) Wilson of Fredericton.
In addition to his wife, Frances, Marty leaves behind his sons, Michael (Stephanie) and Brian (Chelsea); granddaughters, Jaida, Ally, Sydney and Livia; sisters, Gerry Cornford, Thelma Burpee, Colleen Thornton, Carolyn O’Rourke, Bonnie Wilson; several nieces, nephews, and his circle of close friends.
Marty was predeceased by his parents, William and Levina (Doherty) Wilson, brothers, William, Ben and Bruce.
Marty grew up in Barkers Point. He was active in sports and continued that interest throughout his life. He worked as a plumber with Wilson’s Plumbing and Heating. His favorite moments were camping with friends and family, fishing and spending time along the Miramichi and the Saint John River. His greatest joy was being a part of his granddaughters’ lives and watching them grow.
Visitation will be held at McAdam’s Funeral Home, 160 York Street, on Tuesday, February 16th, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. A memorial service will be held at Brunswick Street Baptist Church on Wednesday, February 17th, at 11:00 am. Rev. Greg Geldart and Rev. Ellen Beairsto will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Marty’s memory can be made to the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital Foundation.
