Clayton 'Bud' Guy

Lieu de naissance : North Sydney

Lieu de décès : North Sydney
Date de décès : 12 février 2016

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Clayton 'Bud' Guy on Friday, Feb. 12, 2016 in the An Cala Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with his loving family by his side.
Born in North Sydney, Bud was the son of the late Captain Clayton and Eileen (Cooke) Guy.
Bud was a loving husband, father and proud grandfather. He was a member of St. Joseph Church in North Sydney and a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Father William Kiely Council 5109. He was a sheet metal worker by trade and was employed in the construction industry for many years. Bud was a very talented 'Jack of all Trades' who was always available to lend a hand to anyone in need. Although construction was his livelihood, photography was his passion. It wasn’t uncommon to see him waiting for that ‘perfect shot’. Bud was a quiet and unassuming man who was known for his easy going nature and dry sense of humour. “Grampy Buddy” was very proud of his two beautiful granddaughters and cherished every moment spent with them. He enjoyed the simple things that life had to offer; spending time with family, watching hockey games at the Whalen house, reading and a good cup of tea. Dad especially treasured his time spent at the cabin in Middle River. To say Dad was an avid Leaf’s fan would be an understatement.
Bud is survived by his spouse and the love of his life of 42 years, Maureen (Whalen); daughters, Kathleen (Dave) Williams, North Sydney, and Erinn (Jerry), Sydney; and by his precious granddaughters, Emily and Julia Williams. He is also survived by his brother, Calvin (Nancy), Windsor; sisters, Florence MacGregor, Santa Barbara, Calif., and Anita (Matthew) Doucette, St. Catharines; nieces Michelle Procter and Tracey O’Handley (Kenny); nephews Scott (Linda) Guy, Matt Doucette, Jr. (Debbie) and Corey O’Handley (Erin); great nieces Jessica, Rebecca and Victoria and great nephew, Clayton. Bud is also survived by his Whalen Family: mother-in-law Madonna; brothers-in-law Richard (Grace) and Shaun Whalen; sisters-in-law Vera (Keith) Ruttle, Ann and Denise Whalen; special nieces Brianna Murphy and Oliva Dahl and many extended family members. Bud will also be forever missed by the Power family with whom he shared a special lifelong bond; and his longtime friend, Bill Luffman.
Besides his parents, Bud was predeceased by his brother, Gordon, father-in-law Kevin Whalen, and brothers-in-law John MacGregor and K.O. Whalen.
Heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to everyone who took care of Buddy especially the nurses and physicians in the Renal Clinic, 4A and An Cala at the Cape Breton Reginal Hospital.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral mass will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, North Sydney with Rev. Patrick O’Neill and Rev. Joe Gillis Officiating. Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the Renal Dialysis Clinic or the An Cala Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Online condolences may be sent to www.wjdooley.com.
