Agnes Bruce

Date de décès : 27 février 2016

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear mother, Agnes Bruce who died peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the Lion's Manor in Placentia on February 27th. Agnes was born on Merasheen Island and at the age of 16 left home to pursue her dream of teaching. This dream would lead her to her future husband Ned, and both would settle in Placentia to raise six children. Having been a stay-at-home mom until her children were older, Agnes again pursued her passion for teaching and worked as a well admired and respected teacher at St. Edward's School for over 30 years. She was greatly loved by her students and to this day is referred to by a myriad of former students as their favourite teacher. Agnes created a legacy that will live on through the hearts of the many students she touched as she will always be remembered for how important and special she made them feel. Agnes was proud of her roots and loved to sing; she and her sister Christina were often called upon at social gatherings to sing the Merasheen song, written by her brother, Ernie. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, making the family cut glass dessert, playing darts, and bingo, as well as visiting her family in Ontario and Alberta. Agnes was predeceased by her husband Edward (Ned), her parents Paul and Jane Wilson, brothers Ernie (Myrtle), Gerald (Clara) and Paul (Lil), also sisters Christina (John Rose), Alice (Paddy White), Carmel (Pat McCabe), Wilhelmina (Rick Reichlmayr) and Grace (John Weeks), and her loving pet Ceasar. Leaving to mourn are her six children, son Eddy (Della), daughters Debbi, Rossie (Ron Dray), Bonnie (Kurt Norman), Ticky and Jill, also six grandchildren - Eddy, Amber, Taylr, Brandee, Cody and Madisen, sister Laura (Al Goss), brother-in-law William Bruce, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. Visitation will take place at Maher's Funeral Home on Sunday, February 28th from 7:00 - 9:00 pm, Monday, February 29th from 2:00 - 4:00pm and 7:00 - 9:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial to take place 11:00am at Sacred Heart Church on Tuesday, March 1st. Cremation to follow. The Bruce family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the many family and friends who supported them always and especially during this trying time. Also a very special thank you to Dr. Mangat and the Lion's Manor staff for the dedicated care and compassion given to our mom, and for the kindness and patience given to our family and friends; it will be forever coveted.

Just give me one moment in time as there is no present like the time. We love and miss you mom.

Rest well beautiful lady.
