NEW GLASGOW - Mildred Arlene (Connell) Dalling. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear wife, mother and grandmother, Mildred (Connell) Dalling. Mildred passed away peacefully at home with her loving family on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016.
Mildred was the youngest daughter of James and Marion Connell and the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mildred is survived by the love of her life and husband of 60 years, Bert; daughters: Lynne (Raymond) MacMillan and Lee Ann Dalling; grandchildren: Shane (Tessa) MacMillan and Alisha MacMillan; sister-in-law, Doreen (Alex) Cunningham, Saint John, NB; brother-in-law, Jack MacDonald, Truro; brother-in-law, Ugo Salmaso, Montreal, QC; sister-in-law, Bev Connell and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Also to mourn Mildred’s passing are two special friends, Cavel McKay and Marg Mitchell who were her chosen sisters. Mildred was predeceased by her parents James and Marion Connell; sisters: Eva McLean, June Salmaso and Audrey MacDonald; brothers: Ralph and Jimmie Connell; nephews: Timothy and Michael Connell and Anthony Salmaso. Mildred was also predeceased by her special friends Elizabeth MacLeod, Belleville, ON; Marge Jones and Donna MacIvor, both of New Glasgow.
Mildred was a talented artist whose paintings will keep her memory alive for years to come. Mildred was a member of Jaycettes and taught Sunday School and Explorers. Mildred lived her life for her family, devoted her time to her husband, her daughters and helping to raise her grandchildren. Mildred enjoyed many summers at Black Point and winter vacations in Sarasota, Florida, with family and friends. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, from Trinity United Church, New Glasgow, with Rev. Donna Tourneur officiating. Reception to follow in the Church Hall. Burial will be in Seaview Cemetery, Pictou. Family flowers only. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of choice. Condolences may be sent by visiting: www.rhporter.ca
