Passed peacefully away, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, March 3rd, 2016, Russell Brake at the age of 74. Predeceased by his parents Lucy and Jack Brake, brother John Brake, sister Olive White and brother-in-law Gerald (Lyn) Hennebury. Leaving to mourn with loving memories, his wife of 53 years Barbara, sons Keith and Rodney (Stephanie) and the light of his life, grandson Andrew. Special thank you to sister-in-law Elizabeth Hennebury and niece Sheri Hannam, brother Bill Brake (Olga) and cousins Russie Churchill (Wince) and Elizabeth Lockyer (Ed) whose care and support during Russell's brief illness will not be forgotten. Also leaving to mourn brother Frank (Linda), brothers-in-law David Earl (Betty), George Earl (Jenny) and Robert White, nieces Jackie Donaldson, Donna Martin, Dianne Bodiford and Karen Grey, nephews Scott Brake and John White and many extended family members, special friends Bud and Joyce Jenkins and a large circle of very dear friends, while too numerous to mention individually, have been a source of love and comfort. Thank you to the Doctor's and staff at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital who have cared for Russ over the past eight weeks. A special thank you to Doctor and friend Jeff White and the staff of Paradise Wellness Clinic for their outstanding care and compassion. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at Barrett's Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Ave., Mount Pearl, from 5-9 p.m. on Sunday, and from 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. on Monday. Funeral service will be conducted by Father Gary Parsons, a long-time dedicated friend whose spiritual guidance has been a great source of strength during this difficult time. Funeral will take place from Barrett's Mount Pearl Chapel at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 8, 2016. Interment will take place at a later date. Flowers are gratefully accepted or donations can be made in his name to a charity of one's choice.
