Brent Morgan Smith was born July 30, 1963 in Quesnel, B.C. to Dalvin and Avon Smith, the youngest of five siblings. Brent is fondly remembered by his loving wife Cheryl, siblings Opal (Wayne),
Ron (Jan), Julie (Ivan), and Richard (Ingela), children Rory and girlfriend Jade, Darilyn, Thane and girlfriend Sarah, and Allister. Brent was predeceased by his father Dalvin, and sister-in-law Karen Smith.
Brent grew up in Fort St. John, B.C. In 1981, Brent went to Western Pentecostal Bible College in Abbotsford to begin his theological degree. Brent met Cheryl that September; she was in her second year of schooling. The following October, Brent and Cheryl were married. Throughout the years, they opened their hearts to many children in need of a loving home. They were the proud parents of four beautiful children: Rory, Darilyn, Thane and Allister. Brent’s career started as pastor at Bethel Pentecostal Tabernacle, then as a faller in the forestry industry with his dad, and later a teacher’s aide at South Peace Secondary School. After working for South Peace, Brent found his calling at Independent Networking Services as a Behavioural Consultant.
Brent had many hobbies. He was a sports guy and loved playing tennis, baseball, football, playing and watching hockey, but the game he loved watching most was NFL football. Brent loved hunting, fishing, camping, and quading. His favourite board game was Monopoly and he was an avid shopper with a great appreciation for jewellery, food and reading. The list could go on, for Brent loved life and there weren’t many things he didn’t enjoy.
For 33 beautiful years, Brent and Cheryl lived the best example of what marriage is; they held each other in trust, in respect, in love.
Brent had wonderful qualities he shared and nurtured in others. He was
non-judgemental with unconditional love for people, a wonderful sense of humour, and was a strong advocate for anyone in need. He had a very positive outlook on life and always said, “It’s a great day to be alive.”
Brent passed away November 22, 2015 with his family at his side. A funeral service was held November 26th at the Dawson Creek Alliance Church, Pastor Terry Coe officiated. Interment followed in Brookside Cemetery.
