HÉBERT, RAYMOND
1929 - 2016
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond Hébert, 86, husband of Lila (Bourque) after a short battle with cancer. He passed away at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bouctouche, he was the son of the late Michel Hébert and the late Sarah Cormier.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Louise Erdely (Edouard) of Bouctouche, three sons, Gilles (Anne) of Bouctouche, Jean-Paul (Charline) of Saint-Antoine and Raymond (Charline) of Dieppe, twelve grandchildren (Denis, Marilyn, Tina, Stephanie, Josée, Daniel, Michel, Monika, Mélanie, Myriam, Karine and Jean-Marc), three great-grandchildren (Nicholas, Dominique and Gabrielle), one sister, Marie-Louise (Bourque) of Cocagne and three brothers, Harry, of Moncton, Roméo and Joseph, both of Bouctouche.
He was predeceased by one daughter, Jacqueline (Robert Hébert), one sister, Jeannine (Bastarache), and two brothers; Willie and Hervé.
He was a well-known businessman and founded R.J. Hébert Insurance Ltd in the late 1960's where he enjoyed serving his customers and friends for over 20 years. After retirement, he developed a passion for wood working and spent many hours doing projects in his workshop.
He served with the 22nd Regiment at Val Cartier during the Korean War, was a past president of the Royal Canadian Legion Bouctouche Branch and an elected member of the local school board in the 1970's. For those who knew him well, he was an avid fan of provincial politics and volunteered in many provincial elections working in several campaigns. He was one of the Founding Fathers of le Pays de la Sagouine Project and a very proud Acadian.
As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Atlantic Cancer Research Institute or la Paroisse Saint-Jean Baptiste would be appreciated by the family.
