Passed away peacefully in the presence of his loving family on Saturday, March 12th, 2016. Born in St. John's, December 18th, 1934. Predeceased by Pearl, his loving wife of 52 years; mother Isabel; father William; sister Bernice. Leaving to mourn his four children: Debbie (Gary), Brenda (Bob); Bill (Geraldine), and Cathy (Rick); brother Dave; grandchildren: Joshua (Sarah), Heather (Mike), Chelsea (Josh), and Reneé; great-granddaughter Maple. Also leaving to mourn the Vokey family, nieces, nephews, and a large circle of friends and very dear friend Millie Squires. Special thanks to close friend Reverend Ed Keeping, Reverend Canon Iliffe Sheppard along with the wonderful staff at the Palliative Care Unit of the Dr. L.A. Miller Centre. George was very proud of his life-time involvement and accomplishments in church and community life both in Markland and Whitbourne and will forever be remembered for his relentless effort. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Sunday, March 13th and Monday, March 14th from 2-9 pm. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, March 15th from The Anglican Cathedral of St. John the Baptist at 11 am, interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road.
