Ann was born in Windsor, Nova Scotia on June 29, 1921, daughter of the late William and Louisa Jane (O'Brien) McNeil. She graduated from Acadia University (B.Sc. 1943) and married Lyn Burnett in 1950. A few of the places she worked were Camp Hill Hospital Halifax, the University of Guelph, University of Western Ontario and the Canada Department of Agriculture in Ottawa.
