Enid Lorna Burns
It is with great sadness that the family of Enid Burns announce her passing on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at the age of 94. Enid was predeceased by her beloved husband Len (2009); parents Percy & Gladys Durnford, brothers Doug (Rose) Durnford and Tim Durnford; brother and sister-in-law Min and Frank Hegley; and many life-long friends. Loving mother of David (Caroline), Dianne (Larry) Hellings, Pam (Kurt) Husi, and Catherine McKinnon; cherished grandmother of Laurie (Jeff), Lea (Aaron), Amanda (Gary), Rebecca (Charles), Scott (Arwen), Michael (Vanessa), Camille (Alex), and Brett, and 12 great-grandchildren. Enid was born to Percy & Gladys Durnford in Moose Jaw, SK on December 18, 1921. She grew up attending Prince Arthur Public School and later on Moose Jaw Tech (Peacock). The Durnford family attended St. Barnabas Church and it was there that she met Len, a handsome young English airman in 1942. The couple were wed at the church on November 6, 1943. In 1944 Enid followed Len to England where they resided until 1948, returning to Canada with their infant son David. The family settled in Moose Jaw becoming faithful servants at St. Barnabas. Enid was active in the ACW, altar guild, choir, mother's union, and taught Sunday school. She was a wonderful mother and homemaker and will be remembered for her devotion to her family and church. Donations made in memory of Enid to the Poppy Fund, Royal Canadian Legion Branch (#59, 268 High St. West, Moose Jaw, SK, S6H 1S8) or to St. Barnabas Traditional Anglican Church, (219 Oxford St E, Moose Jaw, SK, S6H 0S8) would be appreciated.
