DOREEN DUNCAN

DOREEN DUNCAN

April 27, 1933 - March 20, 2016

Our lovely mom has passed away leaving a full treasure chest of images of a life well lived: summers at our Gibsons cabin, a great forehand shot at Jericho Tennis Club, bodysurfing the waves of Hawaii, snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef, curled up with a great book or movie and a hot cup of coffee (or Australian wine), shopping the high streets, Colin Firth, crosswords, swimming and gardening.
Dori was predeceased by her husband, Jim in 1989. She is survived by her two daughters, Janis Duncan and Lynn Duncan (Chris) and her beloved granddaughter, Emily. Also survived by her two sisters, Pat Cronin, Joanne Tegart (Norm) and three brothers, Jim (Donna), Ron (Shirley), Gerry (Pat) Watson.
Doreen attended UBC, worked for BC Electric and then raised her family in Point Grey. Jim worked for Qantas and the Australian Consulate, which made the world our playground. Family travels ranged from Australia, NZ, Tahiti, Fiji, to all points Europe, Israel and her favorite, anywhere UK. The sudden death of Jim at an early age was a slamming door that was truly opened wide again with the birth of her granddaughter. Tuesdays at Nana's involved wacky costumes (bathing caps and jewellery), mac n' cheese, tennis and mad science experiments!
Mom settled into her new home in Sechelt volunteering with the hospital auxiliary and enjoying coast life with friends and family.
Thanks to long time dear friends, Fred and Betty Robertson of Gibsons for a lovely tea held for our mom, to the staff of Shorncliffe who so kindly care for our seniors every day and to Dr. Fogarty.
Donations to Parkinson Society or Osteporosis Canada.
We love you, mom. "...it is an ever-fixed mark..."
