GODIN, SHIRLEY FRANCES
On April 9th, 2016, at Pine Grove Nursing Home in Fredericton, NB, Shirley Godin passed away at the age of 79. Born in Fredericton, NB, on March 18th, 1937, Shirley was the wife of the late Lionel Godin of Fredericton.
Shirley leaves her sons, John (Nancy), Mike (Jodi) and Kevin (Kim), all of Fredericton, NB; brothers, James and John Doherty of Fredericton, NB, and Pat Doherty (Shirley) of ON; sister, Evelina Nicholson (Paul) of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Johnny (Sonya), Angela (Andrew), Randy, Vanessa, Rebekah (Steven) and Jessica; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Brianna, Riley, Shelby and Kaylee; great-great-grandchild, Easton; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband, Lionel, Shirley was predeceased by her parents, John and Blanche (Hickey) Doherty; brother, Theodore "Ted" Doherty; sisters-in-law, Betty and Pauline Doherty.
Shirley was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was also a very hard working, caring and giving woman.
The family would like to thank 4E at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital and the staff of Pine Grove Nursing Home for their exceptional care of Shirley over the past year.
At Shirley's request there will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Dunstan's Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 12th, 2016 at 11 am with Fr. Bill Brennan as celebrant. A reception will follow the mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Shirley's memory can be made to the IWK or NB Lung Association.
