Peacefully at the Garden Home on Thursday, February 5, 2009, of Mrs. Agatha (nee McCabe) Whelan of Charlottetown in her 84th year. Beloved wife of the late Ivan "Bill" Whelan and dear mother of Janet (Bill) MacKenzie, Charlottetown; Terry Whelan, Hong Kong; and Carolyn (the late Peter) Murnaghan of Charlottetown. She is also survived by two loving grandchildren, Justin and Cole Murnaghan; sisters, Carrie MacDonald, Sr. Laura McCabe CSM, Clare (Jack) Weatherbie, Anita (Fred) Whelan; her brother, Joe (Miriam) McCabe, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Tommy and Gertrude (MacAulay) McCabe; her daughter, Jennifer; and sisters, Mary Murphy, Marion MacDonald and Kathleen Creed. Resting at the Hennessey Funeral Home until 2:15 Monday afternoon, then transferred to St. Dunstan’s Basilica for funeral mass at 2:30 p.m. Interment later in the family plot in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of P.E.I.
