ADVOCATE HARBOUR – Augusta R. “Gussie” Morris, age 91, of Advocate Harbour passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at the Chignecto Manor, Advocate Harbour.
Born in Springhill, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Violet (Brown) Vickery.
Gussie was a graduate of Truro Normal College graduating in 1944. She was a retired school teacher having taught for 38 years, 36 of those in Advocate Harbour.
She was a former member of the Springhill Baptist Church, Advocate United Church Women, Red Cross and the Pythian Sisters.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by nieces, Gail Morris, Advocate Harbour, and Carol MacKay, Halifax; nephews, Arden Fletcher (Hilda), Advocate Harbour; Allan Burns (Marilyn), Bible Hill; Bert Burns (Carolyn), Georgetown, Ont., several cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband , Sidney Morris in 1983; a sister, Doreen; a brother, Corey.
Visitation took place on Friday, April 8, 2016 at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro, where funeral followed at 2 p.m., Rev. Elizabeth Davies officiating. Burial in the Advocate Cemetery.
