Russell 'Russ' Trenholm
Russell ‘Russ’ Trenholm, 84, passed away Friday, April 22, 2016, at the Queensway Carlton Hospital, following complications associated with diabetes.
He is survived by his children, Stephanie, Jill, Michele, Sven, Leif and their spouses; his 14 grandchildren; relatives in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and Ontario; and close friends in Iceland, Ontario and Quebec.
Born and raised in Cape Breton, N.S., he was married to Elizabeth (Betty) Jane Trenholm (nee Hardy; also deceased), they lived together in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Montreal and Ottawa.
Dad was very well respected by his peers in aviation for his expertise in flight operations and his vast aviation knowledge. He was very passionate about his career such that it became his hobby, and he used to say: "If you like what you are doing, you will not work another day in your life."
He was an active member of the Shriners in Ottawa for many years.
At his request, there will be no funeral service, and his ashes will be laid to rest in the Atlantic, off the coast of his beloved island of Cape Breton.
Donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be most welcome.
Rest in peace, Dad.
