NIELSON, LORRAINE
1939 – 2016
Lorraine Nielson, 76, of Riverview, formerly of Sussex, passed away after a valiant battle with cancer, surrounded by her family, at The Moncton Hospital on May 3rd. Born in Berwick, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Northrup and the late Doris Friars.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 39 years, Gordon Nielson, her two daughters Lori Webster and Heather Webster(Cheryl), her step daughter Sandra Ford(Bernie) and step son Greg Nielson. She is also survived by a brother Paul Northrup(Wanda) and four nephews. She will be sadly missed by her cherished grandchildren Katie, Jessie and Kaylea and five great-grandchildren Jamie-Lee, Lydia, Ayden, Charleigh and Brooke.
She was predeceased by an infant son, Daniel Webster and by her beloved sister Marlene O’Brien.
Lorraine was an animal lover and will be met at the Rainbow Bridge by four of her faithful canine companions as well as a couple of her feathered friends. Everyone knew not to call her on “race day” as she was an avid NASCAR fan, with “Junior” being her favorite driver. She enjoyed playing mahjong and was a fierce online Wordscraper competitor with family and friends.
On May 19, 2016, the family invite relatives and friends to join them for a Celebration of Life taking place from 2:00 to 4:00pm at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd. Riverview (869-2007). The interment will take place in Kirkhill Cemetery, Sussex.
