It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of George Parsons of Shearstown, NL, born August 26th, 1952. He was a loving son, supportive brother, cherished uncle and devoted friend to those around him. He passed away peacefully at the Miller Centre in St. John's on Sunday, May 15th, 2016 surrounded by a large circle of family and friends. George was a champion of the church, a long time activist for gay rights, and a deeply invested LPN at the Pentecostal Senior Citizens Home in Clarke's Beach. George devoted 44 years to the service of his profession and had the privilege to work with those he considered true friends. Predeceased by his mother Winnie Parsons (March 20th, 1932 - Oct. 6th, 1999) and his brother Ernest Parsons (July 9th, 1950 - Oct. 27th, 1950). He leaves to mourn brothers Reginald Parsons (Rose), William Parsons (Gail), Herman Parsons (Sandra), sister Jenny Parsons (Eric), his beloved pet Missy and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road on Monday, May 16, 2016 from 6-9 p.m. and on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral Service to take place from Caul's Chapel on Wednesday, May 18 at 10 a.m. Also resting at Slade's Funeral Home, Bay Roberts, on Wednesday, May 18 from 6-9 p.m. and on Thursday, May 19 from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral Mass to take place from St. Mark's Anglican Church, Shearstown on Friday, May 20, 2016 at 2 p.m. with interment to follow at St. Mark's Anglican Cemetery.
