LEGERE, BARBARA
Legere (Mallory), Barbara Joyce "Penny", age 74 of Dartmouth.
We are all saddened to announce the passing of our mother who died peacefully on July 2, 2016 in the QEII, Halifax Infirmary, where she was surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Saint John, N.B., she was a daughter of the late Kenneth "Ken" and Pearl Mallory. After marrying and moving to Nova Scotia, she worked for 19 years at the Penhorn Mall Sears and raised her 4 boys.
In her younger years, Penny and her husband Gerald "Gerry" Legere were both involved in the Youth Choir at St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church in Dartmouth.
After her retirement, Penny spent her summers at "The Red Lantern 2", her cottage in Shediac, N.B. where she hosted many happy gatherings and received many welcome visitors.
Penny is survived by her sons, Chris (Wanda) Legere, of Edmonton, AB, Larry and Greg Legere, both of Dartmouth, and John Legere of Halifax; grandchildren Christopher (Michele) Legere, Katie (Josh) Risk, Jennifer (Nathan) Yadlowski; great-grandchildren Olivia and Augustus "Gus" Yadlowski, all of Edmonton, AB.
She is also survived by sister Bette (John) Shannon, Saint John, NB; older brother Kenneth "Ken" (Judy) Mallory, also of Saint John, NB; sister in law Patricia Mallory; and nieces and nephews.
Penny was predeceased by her former husband Gerry, her younger brother Richard "Ricky" Mallory; and her special aunt Helen (Fred) Sherwood.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2pm on Thursday July 7, in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth. The funeral service will take place following visitation at 2pm in the funeral home chapel, Rev. James Haughn officiating, with a reception to follow. Interment in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens.
Donations in memory of Penny may be made to a charity of choice.
Penny's family wishes to thank the diligent attention and care afforded by both the doctors and care-givers at the QEII hospital as well as the staff of Atlantic Funeral Home for their kind help and experience.
