BOONE

Boone, Daryl Ronald, age 53, of Bedford, passed away peacefully, at the QEII, VG Site, Halifax, on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Halifax, Oct. 19, 1962, he was the son of the late Harold Boone of Trenton, and is survived by his mother, Myrna Boone, Trenton; daughters, Andrea (Tim); Stephanie and Christine; and grand-daughter, Lillian.
Also survived by his three sisters, Karla (John Versteege), Caroline (Mark Winters), and Colleen (Glenn Breen); great uncle, John MacKay (Dottie); Uncles, “Bud” Boone (Vivian) and Ron Frazee; Aunt; Betty Riggs.
Daryl will be missed by his many nieces and nephews, Sharon, Herbie Jr., Connor, Courtney, Maria, Diana, Vincent, Nate, Catherine and Joe.
The extended MacKay, Frazee, Sweeney and Weatherbie families, also feel the loss.
Daryl worked for over 20 years at the Halifax Regional Water Commission. He made many friends through his life, and his kind and easy going personality was appreciated by all. Many of his friends have commented that they are better people for having Daryl as a friend and co-worker. Daryl loved a good debate, and socializing with friends over coffee. Irreplaceable and undeniably the friendliest guy you could meet.
He loved to read and talk about world history and current events. He enjoyed geography and could easily explain the location of some obscure island in the South Pacific, even while half asleep! Daryl’s greatest joy in life was being a dad to Andrea, Stephanie and Christine and grandfather to Lily. “I’ve gotta go see those girlies,” he would say, getting up to leave the cottage on a beautiful sunny day. Stephanie and Christine never left his side for his last two weeks. His loving, doting angels gave the best of themselves to love, care for and sustain him. Their love, and the love of Andrea and Lily was all he needed to stay a little longer in this life.
His legacy as a father was only matched by his own father. He has learned from the best, and has surely passed on this kind heart to his daughters and granddaughter. Daryl was always excited to share in life’s events for his girls and his many nieces and nephews. He made every event he could get to, with the pride of a Dad, and the enthusiasm of a cheering uncle. You would find Daryl at cheerleading events, volleyball games, Christmas concerts, graduations, dancing recitals and hockey games. Daryl’s love of Melmerby Beach, the salt air, long cottage naps, chats with mom on the deck, and a really good rum and coke, will all be remembered.
To a gentle man, who never seemed to cause a moment of distress, until the day that he left us. We will miss him profoundly. Please join Daryl’s family at Brewster’s Pub in Bedford, Wednesday, Aug. 17, from 5:30 p.m. - 8 p.m., to share in a celebration of his life.
