Bridgeville - Lillian Blanche “Lil” MacCuish, age 102, of Bridgeville, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2016 in the Aberdeen Hospital.
Born in Tracadie, she was a daughter of the late George and Melena (Bonvie) Bowie.
She was a seamstress at Wearwell Garments, retiring in 1979. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church; a lifetime member of the Bridgeville Women’s Institute and actively participated in the community card parties, social events, making lunches and the Terry Fox Walk.
She was the one constant in our life. She lived for her family and for the traditions and values that she sought to instill in each and every one of us. All of our memories reflect back to Our family home in Bridgeville and to our “Mother” and “Grandmother” preparing a Celebration and feast lovingly for her family whether it be Christmas, New Years, Easter, Thanksgiving, Anniversaries, Birthdays or Sunday dinner. Oh how we all will miss you Mom!
She is survived by a son, Dave (Doreen) Frobisher, Sask; daughters: Donna (Peter) Galbraith, Hopewell; Dianne Swain, Bridgeville; Joan (Jerome) Pellerine, New Glasgow; daughter-in-law, Julie, Port Charlotte, Florida; sister, Margaret Barnes, Ottawa. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, John Charles “Chick” MacCuish; sons: James Wayne “Jim” MacCuish and John Charles “Chickie” MacCuish; granddaughters: Denise MacCuish Niles and Cindy MacCuish George; great grandson, Matthew MacKay; brothers: Joe, Simon, George, Martin, Wilfred and Russel; sisters: Susie MacDonald, Katherine Murphy, Evelyn Bicknell, Rita Lussier and Theresa MacMillan.
Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 pm Friday, in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral mass 11 am Saturday in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, with Father Barrett Clare-Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society or a charity of choice.
