Laurent Joseph Francois St. Cyr, age 79, of Ponteix, Sk. passed away July 7, 2016 at Ponteix, Sk. The Graveside Service was held on Saturday, August 20, 2016 from The Ponteix Parish Cemetery with Father Guy Amedee Ainemon officiating. Laurent is survived by two brothers Gerry and Harvey St. Cyr; one sister Alma and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Lucien and Bertha St. Cyr; seven brothers and five sisters. Laurent was born on September 17, 1936 in Ponteix. He attended school at McPhail School, Governor School, Meyronne School and Ponteix School. He farmed with his father and then worked for the C.P.R. until retiring in 1969. He was a member of the Wildlife Federation and the Ponteix Boxing Club. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, taxidermy, watching T.V. and playing pool. Laurent was best known as "Money Bags" and had many expressions. He kept his home very clean and never cooked inside, instead either Bbq or eating out. His yard was also kept very well with many special ornaments and light all through it. He enjoyed driving and walking around town, visiting with the younger people and even suppling fish to the elders in the community.
