It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Mary Josephine Oliver, 96, of New Waterford on September 17, 2016 at the Maple Hill Manor. Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late Nicholas and Agnes (King) Banville. In earlier years, Mary worked at a bank in Massachusetts. She later moved home and was employed with the Bank of Nova Scotia in Sydney. Eventually, Mary became owner/operator of Oliver’s Dairy on St. Joseph Street, New Waterford. Mary enjoyed knitting, sewing and crocheting. Surviving are her daughter, Anne Oliver, New Waterford; sisters, Rose McGovern, New Waterford, Lucy Burtwell and Cecilia Lamore, both of Michigan. Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband, Andrew and four brothers, Richard, Patrick, Ronnie and John. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 21 at 11 a.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford, with Deacon Leo Penny officiating.
