We regret to announce the passing of Moyra Coakley, 94, in her home on Thursday, September 22, 2016, at 12:10 a.m., with her son Laurence by her side. Our mother was born in Hartlepool, England, on January 30, 1922. She was a war veteran and war bride and arrived in Florence in 1945. She was raised in a city but she adapted well to farming and country life. She enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her husband of 72 years, James Gregory; sons, Gregory, Laurence; daughters, Velda, Moyra and Michelle; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Visitation for Moyra Coakley will be held in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines on Saturday, October 1, 2016, from 1-2 p.m. A celebration of her life will take place at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Fr. Peter McLeod officiating.
