Jody Marie (Cook) LeFave

LEFAVE, Jody Marie (Cook) – Age 39, New Germany, Lunenburg Co., passed away on Friday, October 14, 2016 with her family by her side at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater after a lengthy but courageous battle with cancer. Born October 29, 1976 in Truro, she was a daughter of John Hugh and Joslyn B. (Thomas) Cook, Middle Stewiacke. Her infectious smile and laugh will be remembered by all who knew her. She found her true calling as a paramedic and brought her spirit for life to work for every shift over 13 years, which touched both the people she helped and the colleagues she worked with. She was a devoted, hard working mom to her two children Rodney and Olivia and her energetic spirit will live on through them. She found her true love and equal in husband Wayne and they shared a love for the outdoors, fishing, kayaking and trips to the camp. In her youth, she was a participant in several pageants which offered her the opportunity to travel on several occasions. In 1994, she was crowned the youngest winner of the Miss Nova Scotia. She the participated in Miss World of Canada in Edmonton where she won Miss Congeniality, in 1996, she entered and won Miss Canada International in British Columbia; which led to her participating and being crowned Miss Caribbean Queen in Jamaica in 1997.
Surviving are her husband, Wayne M. LeFave; daughter, Olivia Hillier, step daughter, Amelia LeFave; son, Rodney Hillier, step sons, Lucas and Patrick LeFave, all of New Germany; sister, Jennifer (Craig) White, Hilden; her niece, Clara and a nephew, Ewan. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m., and 7-9 p.m., Wednesday in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Cremation will follow the visitation and a Celebration of Life service will be 11 a.m., Friday, October 21 in Bridgewater United Church, Bridgewater. Rev. Ron Frampton officiating. Flowers accepted. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Journey Room of South Shore Regional Hospital. Interment will take place at a later date in the Middle Stewiacke Cemetery, Middle Stewiacke.
