It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother, Nanny, and Great-Grandmother, Edna Johnston. She passed away October 31, 2016 at home with her loving family by her side after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
She was a daughter of the late George & Marion MacFarlane.
Edna was a beautiful lady who loved cooking, knitting, and crocheting. She also loved her music, especially Perry Comeau and Marty Robbins. However her greatest pride was her role as a mother to her nine children.
She leaves behind to mourn, her five sons, Tim (Sharleen), Kyle (Tina), Kelly (Darlene), Wayne (Mary Anne), Dana (Cheryl); three daughters, Deborah (Bernard), Dorothy (Clary), and Dawn, all of Pictou; 19 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 1 great great-grandson and 4 step-grandchildren. Edna was predeceased by her husband, Robert ‘Bobby’, her son, Tracy; a granddaughter and grandson, in infancy; her sisters, Gertrude, Winnie, Dot, Lillian, Geraldine; and brothers, Billy, Clarence, and Kenny.
Funeral service will be held Thursday November 3rd at 2:00 PM from First Presbyterian Church, Pictou. Burial will follow in Haliburton Cemetery.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
