Lois Francis (McCoubrey) MacDonald

Lois Francis (McCoubrey) MacDonald

Passed away peacefully Friday, October 28, 3016 at St. Michael's Centre, Burnaby B.C. at the age of 85, succumbing to complications from COPD and diabetes. Lois was the devoted wife of Hayden Lee MacDonald (deceased May 29, 2006) and loving mother of Allan (Pamela), Robert (Monique Prudhomme) and Roger (Dee Toback). Born November 5, 1930 in Charlottetown P.E.I., Lois met Hayden after his return from duty in WWII. They married November 25, 1949, and soon afterwards gave birth to Allan. Looking to begin a new life together, they moved to Vancouver B.C. in 1953 where they settled to raise their family. Lois brought up her children tirelessly, using the basics of her upbringing. At the same time she maintained an active work career and social life with friends, while still finding time to pursue her cultural interests and hobbies. She kept her sense of humour intact at all times, and had a wry story or joke for most every situation, accompanied by sly grin or a polite laugh. No match against a box of garter snakes left on the porch by her children, she never gave an inch to a bully or a thief. The family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff of the St. Michael's Centre, for their kind care and support of Lois and her family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to B.C. Diabetes or St. Michael Centre.
