The family of John Ratchford, who passed away on September 6, 2016, would like to extend a heartfelt ‘Thank you’.
To everyone who called, visited, sent flowers and cards, made online condolences, sent food to our homes, made donations in John’s name and had Masses said, your thoughtfulness and kindness will always be remembered.
Many thanks to the nurses of VON and to Palliative Care nurse Cathy MacMillan, for your gentle understanding and support to John and all of us. We were then and are now, so very appreciative for all you did. To the staff of 4D and 4B at the Cape Breton regional Hospital, thank you for your care and kindness to our dear John during his five weeks there.
To the horsemen who visited John in hospital and at home, your ‘horse talk’ lifted him beyond his illness for a little while. We are all so grateful to the many friends who came to the hospital and to our home, to show your respect and kindness to John.
Special thanks to Father Albert MacPherson, Father Sandy MacNeil and Father Patrick O’Neil, who prayed so hard for John’s recovery. Thank you to Father Patrick and Father Sandy for the beautiful celebration of John’s life. Many thanks to Pallbearers, who honoured John with an amazing display of affection by including their driving helmets in the service, we know he was so proud to be one of them!
Thank you so much to sister-in-law Joan Byers, friend Remi Cantwell and son John Jr. for your readings. Thanks to Allen Gale and St. Josephs choir and to Kimberly Fraser for making the celebration of John’s life more special with your talents.
