It is with great sadness that the family of the late Garland Leamon Thomas announce his passing on Saturday, November 5th, 2016 at the Long Term Care Home in Corner Brook. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 60years, Irene (nee Nichols); two daughters: Wanda (Wayne) and Mona; 3 grandchildren: Carla, Lee and Tracy; brothers & sisters: Wavey Cross (Melvin), Jim (Anne), Beaton (Lucy), Golda Parsons (Derrick), Linda Buckley (Jerry), Graham (Rhonda); Step-Mother Flora Thomas; brothers-in-law & sister-in-law: Calvin Nichols (Edna), Terry Nichols (Georgie), Melvin Nichols (Grace), Ivan Nichols (Joan), Wayne Nichols (Donna) and Sharon Goobie (Randy). He was pre-deceased by his parents: James & Lucy Thomas; parents-in-law: Roy & Rita Nichols; brother: Wesley Thomas (Vivian); sisters-in-law: Nellie Smith (Moses) and Alice Kelly of Nebraska and brother-in-law Bruce Nichols. Visitation will take place from Fillatre's Funeral Home in Deer Lake on Tuesday, November 8th, 2016 from 2-4pm & 7-9pm. The funeral service will take place on Wednesday, November 9th, 2016 from the Salvation Army Church, 20 Church Street in Deer Lake at 2:00 p.m. with Major Winnie Burt officiating. The interment will take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Deer Lake Salvation Army Building Fund. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre's Funeral Home, Deer Lake.
