We, the family of Allan MacLeod, regret to announce his passing on Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born April 30, 1928, in New Boston, he was a son of the late Roderick ‘Rory’ and Louise (Wilberham) MacLeod. For many years, Allan was employed as a carpenter with Parks Canada. He was an adherent of St. James Presbyterian Church, Catalone. Allan was a kind man with a warm sense of humour, who was proud of his Gaelic language and heritage.
Allan is survived by his daughters, Alana (Stuart Quinn), South Bar and Erna (Philip Boudreau), Catalone; son, Darren (Karen), Annapolis Royal and their children, his beloved grandchildren, Kai-lin, Ai-li, Mike and Lisa; sister, Sarah Ann MacSween, Sydney; sisters-in-law, Gloria MacLeod, Catalone and Helen Bishop, Charlottetown, PEI; brother-in-law, Billy Martin; numerous nieces and nephews and many close friends.
He was predeceased by his wife, Kaye (Bishop); sisters, Catherine MacLeod, Florence Martin and Mary Catherine MacDonald; brothers, Angus, Donald and Hughie. Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Thursday, November 17 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at St. James Presbyterian Church on Friday, November 18 at 2 p.m., with Pastor Kevin Richardson officiating. Interment in Loch End Cemetery.
